Hi there,
I feel super bad for not having updated my comic in ages, I’ll see if I can jump back on it soon.
My Mandarin had improved so quickly. From being unable to speak any Mandarin I improved in only the 4 month course to knowing all the basics and a tad more. I can talk about who I am, what I do, what my hobbies are, ask directions, order food, and have a general conversation with people. I can’t talk about business, in depth emotions or anything beyond a simple conversation but I’m certainly able to travel in China now without feeling lost in translation.
The first month or so will be the hardest since you know nothing, but jumping into the deep end is the quickest way to learn.
Don’t be ashamed of not having learnt in when you were young, learn it when you want to. I was in a class dedicated to never having studied Mandarin so there are certainly others in the same boat. I remember a couple of people who could speak only cantonese and no Mandarin, so that’s expected too.
Enjoy your studies!

My BEST posts of 2015
It feels like it’s been a bit of a slow year but a good one nonetheless. Not as much animating and a bit more inking. So Happy new year everybody! Keep on drawing!

6-hours: Hi Sasha! I really love your ink drawings, the solid blacks are really powerful :) I was wondering what kind of pen did you use for your most recent Inktober post to get that variation in line width? It looks hella!!
I’m not able to tell you what I used for that one specifically but I recently got some new nibs and inks from JetPens, which work ten times better and have a similar effect!
I bought a:
Tachikawa Comic Pen Nib Holder,
Zebra Comic Pen Nib - G Model,
Deleter Manga Ink - White,
and Kuretake Manga Pen Ink.
I’ve only used all of these (except the white) once but I can tell you straight away that I believe the quality of these are great!
Jet Pens also have a nice guide to nibs and pen nib holders if you’d like an example of the different types.
Happy Inking!

cheeborg: Hi! I love your work! I've been lurking quietly for a little while now. I'm wondering if you posted a listing for a print of your rpg-style sailor scouts? Also, Could you pretty please post a link to your shop? i can't seem to find it using my phone.
Hey there!
I unfortunately don’t have an online store at the moment BUT I reakon I’ll jump on it not too long after the AMC expo. And they will have the RPG sailor Moon pics for sale.

Anonymous: Hi! I just finished reading your comic on tapastic and I found it really helpful ^^ I'm also going to study in China next year and was a bit worried but now I'm really excited! I was just wondering what's your Chinese like now after spending a semester there? And were there any other Chinese people who couldn't speak it or only spoke Cantonese bc they were born abroad? I'm kind of embarrassed to have to learn so late ><
